An obstacle should follow the character

Hello, we have a problem. The game character collects chicks and eggs. However, we now want the collected chicks to follow the hen. How should we proceed? Is there an action “follow the game character”?

It is currently not easy for one character to follow another. This is on our list of improvement suggestions.

To be honest, I had exactly the same puzzle last year on a small project! The thing is, most programs don’t have a magic “follow” button; you have to use a little trick. If you make them run directly towards the chicken, they all stack up at the same spot—it ends up looking more like a pixel omelet than a brood of chicks.

My practical tip: Just have the first chick run to where the chicken was half a second ago, and the second chick follows the first, and so on. This creates a really cute little trail behind you. It’s simply called “position history.” It’s totally simple, but your game will immediately feel more alive and professional without you having to calculate complicated trajectories.
